MAGDA MYSZKOWSKI

Born in Poland, Magdalena Myszkowski is a self-taught artist who now lives in Brisbane. Her high-density collages are made by weaving photographs, recycled paper and magazine images. This projective technique explores her feelings on issues concerning the human condition and taps into some of her latent memories from a childhood spent in metropolitan and coastal Tricity. Magdalena has practised as an interior designer for more than 20 years. Her expertise lies in projects with a community focus, including creating designs for people living with dementia and education spaces for students with special needs. She uses an evidence-based approach to design meaningful, responsive spaces that aim to provide the best quality of life – spaces where all inhabitants feel valued, inspired and comfortable. Now, Magdalena is transferring her formal design process to personal collages that test composition by layering colour, texture, light, scale and exploring the division of space.
